M & M Coach is an educational tool that helps surgical trainees prepare for morbidity and mortality (M&M) conference. You describe a case, answer a few focused follow-up questions, and the app helps produce a polished case narrative, discussion-prep material, likely faculty questions, and relevant published literature.

Yes. You can create an account with Sign in with Apple or an email and password.

M & M Coach currently supports cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, and general surgery, with additional surgical specialties being added over time.

Your first complete case preparation is free. After that, preparing additional cases requires an auto-renewing subscription purchased through your Apple ID account. See our Terms of Use for full subscription terms.

Subscriptions are managed through Apple, not through M & M Coach directly. On your device, open Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions, select M & M Coach, and turn off auto-renew. Turning off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends prevents the next charge; it does not refund the current period.

No. Do not enter real patient identifiers — names, medical record numbers, exact dates, contact information, or anything else that could identify a specific patient, staff member, or institution. Use de-identified or approximate details instead.

The app includes an on-device check that flags likely identifiers before they leave your device as a safety net, but it is not a substitute for your own judgment and cannot screen audio already sent for speech recognition. See our Privacy Policy for details.

M & M Coach is an educational preparation tool. It does not provide medical advice and does not replace clinical judgment, institutional policy, or supervision. It is not intended to be used to store or transmit protected health information, and is not represented as a HIPAA "covered entity" or "business associate."

The case narrative, discussion prep, faculty questions, and literature search are generated with the help of AI and may be incomplete, inaccurate, out of date, or occasionally fabricated. Always independently review and verify content — including citations — before relying on it or presenting it.

Tap the microphone to dictate your case narrative instead of typing. Speech recognition may run on your device or, when a network connection is available, on Apple's speech recognition servers (this allows the app to better recognize medical terminology). Only the recognized text — never the audio itself — is sent to the M & M Coach backend, and it passes through the on-device patient-information check first.

Make sure M & M Coach has microphone and speech recognition permission in Settings, and that you have a network connection for the best recognition quality. If it still isn't working, you can always type the case instead — or contact us with details.
